In March this year I went on holiday to Mexico with five friends and it was A-MAZING. The moment the coach pulled up to our hotel, Iberostar Cancun, I just knew that I was going to love this place. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and looked expensive. The minute we stepped through the door until the moment our stay was over we were treated like royalty and the staff could not do enough for us. From the welcome drinks to the bell boys taking our bags to our rooms, the service was impeccable. We walked through the lobby to the lift, kinda in shock at how nice the hotel was; I’m used to staying in cheap little two star places in Spain and this was a complete contrast. We went up to our rooms to get settled in and unpack, when we walked into the room we were greeted with rose petals on the bed which was a nice touch. We had a pretty good view from our room as we were facing the sea, the only thing that could have been better would have been having a bigger balcony as there was literally only just enough room to step onto ours.
There were loads of different pools at the hotel, one where you could play volleyball and basketball, a kids one complete with slides that my friends just had to have a go on! The star of the show though is the infinity pool which looks out onto the beach and comes complete with a swim up bar. Sitting in the pool whilst sipping a strawberry margarita was heaven and when the hotel says its all inclusive it really is- from the drinks to the room service; everything is included.
There was so much to do at the hotel; things such as water aerobics, rifle shooting, beach volleyball, salsa dancing- they even did Spanish lessons. We also booked excursions outside of the hotel and I went snorkelling with turtles (seeing turtles in the sea was incredible), swimming in cenotes, zip wiring, I drove an amphibious vehicle through caves and over bridges and went swimming in caves. As a group we all went on Captain Jacks pirate boat which was a trip on a pirate boat with dinner, unlimited alcohol, a pirate show and then a party kinda thing towards the end- it was awesome, so much fun and something I would recommend to anyone going to cancun. Two of my friends and I got a bus to the port and then we took a ferry to Isla Mujeres where we sat at a lovely bar on the beach that had swings instead of chairs. We didn’t do much else there as it was so hot but was a really beautiful place. All in all, I had an amazing holiday and would recommend Cancun to anyone as it’s gorgeous, everyone is friendly and there is so much to do. Will definitely be going back at some point and I can’t wait.
