Sorbet is a chain of beauty salons that were started in South Africa. They have recently opened a couple of salons in London and I was kindly invited to an opening event at the Muswell Hill branch. As this was my first blog related event I wasn’t too sure what to expect and needless to say, I was quite nervous. Luckily I was able to take my friend Juliet with me which helped me to calm my nerves a bit. In new situations I tend to freak out a little bit so having a friend with me helped.
As soon as we arrived at the salon everyone was really welcoming and we were offered some Prosecco straight away which was much appreciated! I was booked in for a manicure at 7:45 and Juliet was booked in for a pedicure at 8 so we had plenty of time to have a chat with people. We ended up getting our treatments done early which was good as we didn’t want to leave to go home too late as it had taken us quite a while to get there. I guess that’s what happens when you travel from South to North London during rush hour! The lady who did my nails (unfortunately I don’t think I was told her name) was really nice and knowledgeable. She made sure she told me all about the products she was using which was really helpful. There was a huge selection of nail polishes to choose from and I had chosen a dark purple whilst Juliet opted for a bright pink.
After I had my nails done I had a skin consultation with a lady called Christine who worked for the brand Environ. We discussed my skin care routine and what problems I have with my skin and then a special camera was used to take three pictures of my skin. The camera somehow takes pictures of all of the layers of your skin and then the images are brought up onto a computer screen. The images show what problems you have with your skin such as dryness, sun damage, oiliness etc. Once we had discussed the results of the pictures, Christine recommended products that would help my skin. She recommended that I use a moisturiser from Environ which is rich in vitamin A which apparently, the majority of women don’t get enough of. She also recommended a cleanser but as the products were quite expensive I only got the moisturiser.
I got given a goody bag before I left which had a few samples in as well as a voucher for 20% off any treatment. I got samples of Jane Iredale Longest Lash mascara which is a chemical free, mineral based mascara; great for sensitive skin like mine, An Environ RAD Antioxidant Sunscreen for face and body (SPF 15), Environ c-quence eye gel and a Dermologica daily microfoliant. I haven’t had a chance to try the products yet so I can’t let you know what they’re like but I’ll probably update this post once I’ve used them a few times!
Overall I had a great experience at the event and I was really pleased with how my nails turned out. They managed to last 4 days chip free which isn’t the best but it’s certainly not the worst manicure I’ve had! As much as I would love for Sorbet to become my regular beauty salon it is a bit too far away for me to go often but if I ever find myself in North London I may have to pop in.
Normally I feel quite intimidated when walking into a salon of any kind but I immediately felt comfortable as everyone was approachable and friendly.
Have any of you visited Sorbet yet? If you have, let me know what you thought in the comments!
